Davies guilty of expenses fraud. Time for a by-election in Brecon and Radnorshire

Guilty: Chris Davies.

Chris Davies, Conservative MP for Brecon and Radnorshire, has admitted two offences of expenses fraud. Now the people of Brecon and Radnorshire can have their fun.

We (the Brecon and Radnorshire electorate) may now petition for the MP to be recalled and for a by-election in the constituency.

If at least 10 per cent of registered electors sign a recall petition, we can have an election and get rid of him.

The petition should be triggered automatically, and it will be for Brecon and Radnorshire’s Returning Officer – and also Powys County Council’s chief executive – Dr Caroline Turner to make it available to the public.

If it isn’t, Brecon and Radnorshire electors can register their concern by contacting Dr Turner via the council on 01597 826000.

There should be an announcement by the House of Commons Speaker’s Office, too. You can email [email protected] to ask about it, too.

Yet another thoroughly dishonest and corrupt Tory – one of many. Bring on the by-election ASAP.

He should lose his job. We are his employers, he tried to steal from us. If you or I was caught stealing from our employer we would be fairly quickly dismissed, it would need no court dates first.

MPs should be told “Fiddle your expenses and you are finished” the same as anyone else.

No he did not try and steal from you – his claims would have been met had he presented them on split receipts to the relevant budgets, A serious clerical error he sought to cover but the money was not for personal gain but constituency MPs office furnishings.

Was it his duck pond or horse paddock I wonder hmm

Constituency Office furnishings – incorrectly invoiced and poor attempt to cover up – no personal gain involved.

      • Mike Sivier March 23, 2019 at 6:15 pm - Reply

Speaks volumes about this Conservative’s character, though.

      • Robbie March 24, 2019 at 4:16 am - Reply

I was simply advising Jeffrey Davies that duck ponds and paddocks were not involved and that his legitimate claim was wrongly presented along with a silly attempt to cover it up…unlike Fiona Onasanya he did at least plead guilty.

Yes, he admitted the offence, after a very long period of trying not to. I stand by my words about his character. I have personal experience of him and he is, in my opinion, loathsome.

      • Robbie March 25, 2019 at 2:49 am - Reply

A personal opinion but not it seems shared by a majority of the electorate.

        • Mike Sivier March 26, 2019 at 1:39 pm - Reply

The majority of the electorate don’t know him personally.

So this thieving b*****d is not only content earning a decent salary plus perks he decides to steal/fiddle the taxpayers hard earned money as well . . . should be sacked,no ifs it buts….

    • Robbie March 25, 2019 at 2:48 am - Reply

See my comments above which invalidate your claim… there was personal gain involved.

      • Mike Sivier March 26, 2019 at 1:38 pm - Reply

That isn’t true; there was personal gain involved. The items weren’t intended for his constituents or charity – they were for him.

      • Robbie March 26, 2019 at 3:45 pm - Reply

They were office furnishings for the constituency office and quite permissable and the court confirmed this was not for personal gain.

        • Mike Sivier March 26, 2019 at 4:26 pm - Reply

How nice of the court. But who was to use those office furnishings if not Mr Davies?

      • Robbie March 27, 2019 at 3:09 am - Reply

Are you suggesting the court was wrong? The office is there for the incumbent MP and the constituents Brecon and Radnorshire if they have business with him.

        • Mike Sivier March 27, 2019 at 1:26 pm - Reply

Constituents would not, as a rule, attend his office; they would attend surgeries held in their locality.

  5. Robbie March 30, 2019 at 11:11 am - Reply

Mike, can you please confirm what you meant by the comment “How nice of the court”, please?
I think, too, it depends on the constituency as to where and when the MP holds surgeries

    • Mike Sivier April 6, 2019 at 10:09 pm - Reply

I meant: “How nice of the court.”
