Johnson spits on democracy: he’s putting ousted MP Goldsmith in the Lords to keep him in the Cabinet

No, not Boris Johnson.
The one who ran a despicable campaign to become Mayor of London by making racist comments about Labour candidate (and now Mayor) Sadiq Khan, who was labelled “the Muslim”. Remember him?
His name was Zac Goldsmith. After his racist mayoral campaign failed, he went back to being Tory MP for Richmond – until he was removed from Parliament by the democratic vote of the people on Thursday, December 12.
Apparently that’s not good enough for our prime mop-headed muppet Boris Johnson. He has decided to ennoble Mr Goldsmith, in order to retain him as a Cabinet minister.
It seems that, despite having 365 MPs from whom to choose, Johnson can’t find enough supporters to form a full cabinet without spitting on democracy.
Either that or there aren’t enough racists.
It seems Mr Goldsmith will continue as Environment Secretary.
As a Lord and not a member of the Commons, it will be impossible for MPs to question him on government policies.
But he will be able to vote on all legislation. Does that seem right?
The Electoral Reform Society would say it doesn’t:
The House of Lords is clearly not fit for purpose. MPs shouldn't be able to stand down or lose their seats and then be handed a life pass to vote on our laws for life (with £305 a day tax-free as an added sweetener)

It’s cronyism. Johnson is surrounding himself with his gang, in mockery of his own claims to be creating a “People’s government”.
It’s perfectly in character, though – as I tweeted myself:

Although unusual such a posting is not unique. Lords Carrington (Con), Young (Con), Mandelson (Lab), Robertson (Lab) and the Baronesses Altmann, (Con), Amos (Lab) and Scotland (Lab) all served in a ministerial capacity. With a Secretary of State in Villiers, and Ministers Pow and Eustice in the Commons environment matters and questions will be adequaqtely covered. I believe that Goldsmith’s post is not one where he will automattically attend cabinet meetings.
Should add that the Electoral Reform Society overlook the fact that Goldsmith (and Nicky Morgan) will not get the daily allowance when they attend the Lords as they are government ministers, not spokespersons.

Johnson is a snake, he has no morals, people who voted for him are deluded. Had they voted Labour they would have got the most honest man in British Politics – Jeremy Corbyn.
agree. am utterly devastated he didnt get in. labout didnt get in and i still think there was something underhanded went on. BUT for now we hav e to get on with things best we can and hope things dont gt any worse.. i know …..a forlorn hope but its all we have left for now.
I was delighted he lost. And his opposition to Heathrow expansion was bogus.

The final sentence clearly confirms that ministers are not eligible for the daily attendance allowance.
Ah, right, so these rejected ex-MPs will still be receiving huge ministerial salaries, despite the fact that they do not have enough support to be elected into government? What a shocking misuse of public funds. Absolutely disgusting.
