New blue Brexit passports are made in Poland by a French-Dutch firm. Satire is dead
The old-style British passport. The new version is to be made entirely in the European Union by an EU-based company.
What else is there to say?
The iconic blue passport has become a symbol of the UK’s departure from the European Union for many people.
I wonder if these Brexiteers will be proud to brandish their new UK passports, in the knowledge that they have been manufactured entirely in the EU?
That’s Tory privatisation for you! They sold off our national resources, so foreign firms bought them – and will keep them, no matter whether we’re in the EU or not.

I’m not looking forward to the “Two queue” system where non-EU citizens have to form a separate, longer, line to get through passport control.
On a wider scale, though, this whole “Global Britain” idea needs examining.
I think we agree that a lot of Brexit votes were based on a desire to isolate the UK. To make the foreigners go away. Lots of rhetoric about too many immigrants. Too much foreign “control” And the idea (Dunkirk spirit etc) that we , only us!, will be able to “muddle through” on our own. Better off that way. Can’t trust other nationalities etc.
Plenty of Tory politicians get themselves elected every time with votes from people believing this.
Yet, simultaneously, they also talk of “Global Britain”, boldly marching to far off lands , securing trade deals , boosting the UK economy etc. So NOT pulling up a drawbridge against the foreign firms!
Maybe having to accept easier entry for other nationalities as part of the new trade deals.
Up to a point, they can boast about deals with other “white” countries like Australia or New Zealand.(The USA counts as a “white ” country for these purposes!)
But, in the end, the Tories are going to have to stop wriggling and expose their trade deals to closer examination. That is the point at which Labour needs to get stuck in.
Whoever becomes leader, they will stand or fall on their ability to make Johnson squirm over the contradictions in his position.
This is no time to declare that the Brexit debate is over. It has hardly begun!
And then they wonder why many of us struggle to find jobs. All that’s left are part-time cleaning jobs, etc. and some of those ask for previous experience. The gentrification of all the little villages in my part of the world has occurred because of the demise of industry, once Industrial areas are now quaint residential places and the factories and mills have all gone.
There was a time when a UK passport would take you almost anywhere. No more, all sorts of restrictions have now come into force. It also commanded respect, but now it is no better than a comic!!
