Coronavirus tests: Tories are dragging their heels so 400K kits could go to Ukraine & Romania
Days after Dominic Raab threw shade on Matt Hancock’s promise of 100,000 coronavirus tests a day, we find the Tory government is letting huge numbers of kits go to other countries.
What is wrong with these besuited buffoons?
They stand up in front of us every day and lie through their teeth that they are doing everything they can, and then we find they are dragging their heels on something as fundamentally important is this.
There is a reason the need for testing has been a hot topic since the coronavirus arrived in the UK.
The UK is far behind other countries in the matter of testing – and our leaders do not seem bothered about changing that.
As I write these words, Chris Whitty is telling the UK we need tests that work.
But his people haven’t bothered to check whether the kits on offer from South Korea do that.
Considering the way that country has got to grips with its rate of infection, I’d say these kits are probably quite good. But the omission – or rather, the refusal – to check and then get on with securing delivery is unforgivable.
Isn’t it?
The government risks losing an offer from South Korea of 400,000 coronavirus test kits a week to a rival country because they have not yet been tested by Public Health England, it has been claimed.
A shareholder in the South Korean LG conglomerate has sourced the kits from five companies in the country and has offered them to the UK through a contact who was the former deputy leader of the Conservative party in Westminster council.
Nick Markham says he has been in touch with the government, but they are dragging their heels and insisting they won’t make a decision until the kits are tested.
He says the production facilities and kits already manufactured are in huge demand, and countries including Ukraine and Romania have already sent military planes out to snap up the supplies.

They rather give monies to companies than the NHS
Totally agree the need for good tests is paramount. We hear tests provided by China have been found useless and sent back probably unlikely to get a refund me thinks. Also makes one wonder how China data can be trusted if they use tests that are not working properly. More likely that South Korea can produce reliable tests but does not explain why the quality control of tests is not No 1 priority to ensure we can procure the max number of quality tests for our key staff and population. I am not impressed by the suits that are wheeled out can provide comfort that they can deliver and follow through with their words. Nothing about this Government has a real grasp of urgency and delivery. They come over as the usual Government suits who only know one speed and blinded by their usual political protection Even today 9th their chief denied point blank that they were not inactive with getting on the testing case early on. Clearly Reuters had got black and white feed back direct from his team that they were sat on their hands. The whole back office is reflecting their usual snail mentality and no urgency and needs a kick up the back side or stand aside and let real professionals take charge who can make things happen rather than the constant waffling and no delivery.
But Mike you forget one important point. These cancerous Tories, in fact all Tories, are inveterate liars and do not understand when they are telling lies or the truth winch in my book is not very often
If the UK doesn’t want them and they are a devolved health issue, should Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland not be able to buy their own.
