#ICJ: Israel plans to defend genocide accusation – by JUSTIFYING its Gaza genocide

The International Court of Justice: this building in The Hague is where the hearings will take place.

If this is true, it will not go the way Israel’s government is hoping.

The International Court of Justice is to hold hearings on Thursday and Friday (January 11 and 12) into whether measures should be imposed to prevent Israel from committing acts of genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza.

It has been claimed that, in its defence, Israel intends to screen a propaganda film composed of clips from bodycams and other recording equipment used by Hamas members during their October 7 incursion into that country.

The film is said to be harrowing, but…

Indeed. The film will not show that Israel is not committing genocidal acts. Nor will it show that any Palestinians committed acts of genocide against Israel, as suggested by that country’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu:

The very thought is ridiculous. Israel is one of the most heavily-armed, militaristic nations in the world and Gaza doesn’t even have an army.

Here’s the ICJ’s statement on the hearings:

And here’s how one commentator thinks they’ll turn out:

The case against Israel has been brought by South Africa, with support from some other countries but notably not the UK – despite demonstrations in support of Gaza and Palestine taking place, apparently on a weekly basis.

Sentiment among the general public is overwhelmingly in support of the innocent people of Gaza who are being slaughtered in the Israeli genocide there.

But Rishi Sunak and his Tory government, supported by Keir Starmer and his right-wing version of the Labour Party, have refused to back the ICJ action.

Fortunately, there is one member of the UK’s Parliament who has been prepared to speak up:

Jeremy Corbyn – always on the right side of history.

The hearings are on Thursday and Friday, and The Hague is one hour ahead of the UK, meaning if you want to use the link above to watch them, you will need to do so from 9am onwards.

How will the fascist/zionist Israeli regime justify their claims they ‘told Palestinians to move to specific safe areas’ and then fascist/zionist Israeli terrorists bombed and murdered them all!
