Resigning Sunak spad says Tories are heading for ‘most almighty of defeats’

You know that shot This Site uses of Keir Starmer in a BBC TV studio with his lips compressed in that ‘I’ve done something wrong’ expression? This is the Rishi Sunak version of that.

This Writer can’t recall ever hearing of Will Dry before, so I’m reluctant to take any words of his at face value.

That said, this is pleasant to read – although the thought of Labour under Keir Starmer running the country for 10 years strikes me as optimism by his cheerleaders and a potential disaster for the UK if it happens:

There’s a lot of political hysteria about at the moment. In 55 years of political engagement I cannot recall such a feeling of aimless drift and so little hope.
The “Labour” Party is already making its excuses before it even gets within a country mile of power, in spite of having studiously ditched so many proper Labour members and all pretence of integrity.
The Tories will have a bad night when, if, the General Election happens but it won’t be wiped out. Just compare, in the Byelections, Labour’s “disastrous” 2019 actual vote with in the recent contests – in a couple of cases they got fewer voters than in 2019.
If Starmer is the answer, we’re asking the wrong questions.

Farage is the least of their worries. Millions could vote for a party he leads bu still not affect the GE outcome in a substantial way – as we’ve seen in the past. This, of course, is due to not ridding ourselves of FPTP when we were offered the chance (does anyone else remember this being offered to us in a referendum? It was)

What will do for the Tories isn’t Austerity, COVID, Brexit, Austerity 2 or any of the MANY scandals that they were involved with – it’s ‘fed-upness’ They’ve been in power for 14 years and people will ‘fancy a change’

I wish people read manifestos and paid attention to what politicians actually DID compared to what they actually SAY but most voters don’t. Give them a slick leader who talks a good game and wears a nice suit and they’ll vote for them. Sad but true..
