The Green Party has been excluded from a BBC debate – is this bias?

The BBC has excluded the Green Party from a Welsh general election hustings – while inviting a representative of Reform UK.

This is a good point, well made. The BBC is (at least in name) a public service broadcaster; its claim is that it exists to serve the public good. If it is excluding one political party from an election event and inviting another simply to stoke controversy and get ratings, then it has abandoned that purpose.

I blame the Tories who have been installed at the top of the news service and on the Corporation’s board.

Brenda Gough on X drew the logical alternative inference: “Its election interference by a state broadcaster. There’s no other way to explain it. It’s blatant.”

Others pointed out that Reform UK wants to end the licence fee that funds the BBC:

“Why do they give space to the guy who just basically promised to make them all unemployed?” asked Lorenzo Trojan.

It’s ridiculous. But it makes one thing perfectly clear.

The media are interfering with your understanding of the election.
