Is anyone keeping track of the amount of money these failed Conservative vanity projects are costing the public purse?
Boris Johnson cost us £53 million with this silliness alone, but has everyone forgotten his costly water cannon project?

The DWP spends a fortune trying to deny help to benefit claimants.
I’m sure you can think of plenty of other examples.
Under the Conservatives, the national debt has more than doubled, but they have insisted on granting huge tax cuts to the super-rich.
The £110 billion in tax cuts the Tories gave to corporations and the wealthy 2010-18 could have been used to fully fund the shortfalls in spending for NHS, Social Care, Mental Health, Education & to house every rough sleeper in the UK.
The Tories chose #EconomicMurder instead.

And they call themselves the party of financial responsibility. Pathetic.
A failed plan to build a bridge covered with trees and flowers over the River Thames in central London cost a total of £53m, it has been revealed.
A Transport for London (TfL) inquiry showed the Garden Bridge Trust spent £161,000 on a website and £417,000 on a gala for the abandoned project.
The design of the bridge cost more than £9m and the charity paid its executives £1.7m.
Around £43m came from the public’s pocket, TfL added.

” … magic money tree ?? …” re: Fractional reserve banking, zombie banks, stock buyback, quantitative easing, creating funds from nothing and repossessing plebs tangible assets on contrived, manufactured default debt, boom, invest, bust – recall debt. Wake up!
We should’t forget the current uproar about the contract given to the ferry company with no ferries. Intended to start a ferry route from Ramsgate to Ostend when Ramsgate needed expensive dredging and the government had cut so much money from the Local Authority grant that the Thanet DC was already opting out of maintaining Ramsgate port. And Ostend had not been consulted. But the contract went ahead!!
On a related topic, I actually think the garden bridge was a great idea. In the right place in London, with tourist potential and useful for commuting walkers and cyclists, and NOT being run for private profit, it would have been a worthwhile addition to London’s riverscape.
But everything the Tories touch turn to dust. Even the good ideas!
I don’t think anyone here will forget the Seaborne debacle. I’ve written several articles about it, after all.

not to mention boris wants a royal yacht when the navy has been told to fire paintguns at the Spanish of Gibraltar, I am sure that Nelson would have been proud of that, Cannon no, Titman semi automatic paintgun yes, where do they get these people from and if there meant to be educated, says a lot really, frightening, don’t put them in charge of a nuclear reactor they be trying to save the water bill

Ongoing, incessant, daily, in yer face, indelible evidence, incontrovertible proof that this lousy bunch of two-bit, half-wit, half-baked, on the make, circus clown type, pseudo-business people simply don’t have a clue regarding the proper financial management of UK plc and don’t give a toss about most of the inhabitants either!
This is HUBRIS on a monumental scale: and all they can think of doing is blaming ‘Jeremy Corbin’!
We didn’t need a garden bridge. Proper green spaces and grass verges would have been more beneficial. Grass verges would not only help with the aesthetic but with drainage, help to maintain a distance between traffic and pedestrians, thus reducing exposure to the most concentrated exhaust fumes, as well as increasing the carbon dioxide absorbing surface area. Win, win, win! I did write to Transport For £ondon, for all the good that it did. In the area of £ondon where I used to live, there was more green on the industrial estate than there was in our streets!
Tories always have public money for wars, for tax cuts for millionaires and for their own pet projects. They are bunch of nasty, vindictive and corrupt confidence tricksters.
