How many people died because the DWP tampered with their benefit applications?

We’ve made the claim before; now Scotland’s Daily Record says it has proof. The Tories have tampered with benefit claims to starve us of cash.

Think about that.

Think about all the people who have died after being denied benefits – either after being driven to despair and suicide, or by the worsening of their illnesses and disabilities, or by starvation.

How many of those happened because the Tories changed their benefit claims – lied about them?

See for yourself:

We lifted the lid on the practice over a year ago when a Scot with multiple sclerosis and mental health problems was accidentally sent before-and-after copies of his assessment for a Personal Independence Payment (PIP) claim.

The paperwork had been submitted by a health professional after a face-to-face meeting, but was then secretly audited by officials without any follow up conversation.

Both versions were sent back, showing he would have qualified for additional support until his scores were lowered.

The altered copy removed a nurse’s observation that the man needed help to prepare a simple meal. References to his top being on inside out were removed.

The original said he has regular specialist input while the audit brazenly stated he has none.

This is not the only example. Last year, according to the Record, 2,300 claims were altered or refused.

In 460 cases, the applications were said to be unacceptable. In 1,840 more, the paperwork was amended to lower or remove the claimants’ entitlements.

In the benefit system, trust has always been a lopsided concept. The DWP questions everything claimants say, while they are supposed to accept every decision the DWP makes as fair and just.

And now we know that it simply isn’t true.

I guess it just proves the old adage that a liar won’t believe anybody else.

The big question is: what is to be done about this?

And – let’s be honest – why haven’t we done it already?

Dwp are public sector area and as such I believe should be held accountable for the many deaths that they have coursed. In real life it is corporate manslaughter without anyone getting any prison sentence but all the people who have formed this system are well rewarded by the government n the Queen!! About time we all banded tegether as 1 United front and took these dwp murdering scumbags 2 court to get justice done n 2 let the government know who put them there in the 1st place!! My opinion of all of what they say n do is total lies!!

It’s outrageous. The actions of a tin-pot Dictatorship , not a responsible government in a civilized country.

My report was altered. Two that stands out is “you were witnessed walking”. Phoned DWP to speak about MR and the DWP Operator said “they will have seen you walking from the car park”. I replied “that’s funny then, i had a home visit and never left my settee”. Also i was witnessed to open a bottle and take a drink. The bottle is an aid it’s designed that way.

Yet another case of involuntary euthanasia which is murder. Based on the only time the DWP released death stats for 2011 it’s fair to estimate the regime had murdered over 100,000 vulnerable people in the last 10 years. This once proud country is not a democracy and no longer civilised.

The Department has been forced to release statistics twice since 2011, to my knowledge. In 2015 I managed to get stats for 2011-2014. And in 2018 Gail Ward secured the stats for 2014-2017.

      Your estimate is pretty fair.

Hi Mike. Can you give me links to these reports? I recently told a judge about what is being covered up.

If I get time. You should be able to find them fairly easily yourself, if you search They Work For You for FOI responses to questions about deaths associated with the DWP.

Big difference though is 2011 figures show 7,100 support group deaths AFTER benefit stopped. Support group are not supposed to be sanctioned but are. Proof of euthanasia programme. These are the stats DWP refuse to release.

If you’re in a wheelchair, you’ll be able to get a lot closer to your quarry than if not. If your condition is terminal, you have nothing to lose. Do something heroic. You get my drift…

WHY ….are u so surprised? The government want the infirm and OAP out the way, so that they can save money. From experience : delays by more than many month’s to see a specialist.

Why are you suggesting that I would be surprised by what I have written? I have been covering this nightmare for many years.

In a culture where individuals are also getting bonuses from disposing of claims – can it be proved that anyone directly benefited – financially – from this behavior? Because THAT alone must be classed as fraud?

At least 69 suicides linked to DWP’s handling of benefit claims
Watchdog warns true number of cases where claimants took own lives as a result of DWP actions could be far higher

The Daily Record, it should be remembered, is at least partly responsible for the Tories still having anything to do with the benefits system in Scotland.

I’m not familiar with this. Evidence?

You would think more would be said about a system where 75 percent of claimants win back their money at tribunal.

But instead they’re happy to renew contracts and throw money at these companies who are clearly doing poor work. What kind of government continues with a system that probably costs more to administer than it actually saves? And for what? They’re causing just more suffering.

Said it before, Labour should have attacked the Tories on their horrendous treatment of the disabled above the EU stance. Being confused on the EU did nothing for the party, but a relentless onslaught on their treatment of the disabled would have knocked the Tories down a peg or two.
