“We’re ending free movement to open Britain up to the world”?
What utter, dribbling, gibbering stupidity!
Priti Patel means: “We’re closing the UK to anybody who isn’t rich.”
Skills don’t come into it.
That’s what the minimum income demand means.
An individual’s value to society won’t matter.
Just ask BAME workers at the NHS.
And it’s bare-faced hypocrisy from Patel, a daughter of immigrants:
If the kind of immigration restrictions and hurdles that Priti Patel is so keen on had been applied to her own parents, she probably wouldn’t be a Britsh citizen today, let alone the Home Secretary. https://t.co/67216wmiGy

The #ImmigrationBill is a missed opportunity.

Is there a special clap we can do on Thursdays to make it clear that we only value the NHS workers on more than £25,600-a-year? https://t.co/ii4DGMC8aT

Just voted against the Immigration Bill. It’s an ugly, flawed piece of Tory legislation. Determining someone’s value to the country by the salary they earn is wrong.

Spot on Nick. In the midst of a pandemic – with hundreds of thousands of migrant key workers risking life and limb in low paid care home, NHS cleaning & food production jobs – the message from this Govt is clear: “You’re foreign. We don’t value you. “ https://t.co/qtITCkwCVA

What you’ve also done, @pritipatel , is to end freedom of movement for UK passport holders across our continent. The citizens of 27 other countries, the great majority of Europeans, still retain it. That’s not something to fly our flag over in my book. https://t.co/lCp8FTCQKi

Of course the Tories are already victimising migrant workers in the UK – they charge such workers £624 to use the NHS, even if they work for the NHS! Seriously!

Every single MP who votes for this immigration bill and still claims to support the NHS is a complete hypocrite.

Perhaps an effective way to present the message would be to show how Ms Patel’s message would come across if it was transferred to one of her other responsibilities:
We’re opening up all the prisons to make Britain a safer place for everyone. #PritiPatel
