There’s a Labour politician you can still support if you live in Norwich South

Here’s living proof of what This Writer has been saying – and immortalised in a YouTube video – because there’s a Labour politician you can still support if you live in Norwich South.

Yes, I have been calling on people in the UK to vote for Independent or smaller party candidates on the left of the political spectrum if possible, because Labour is now a right-wing party and its leader, Keir Starmer, has reneged on all the pledges he made that would have introduced left-wing policies.

But I also said that voters’ only duty is to choose the best candidate for themselves, out of those who are standing in their constituency.

In Norwich North, that is likely to be a Labour candidate – because Clive Lewis has been an outstanding MP.

Earlier this year, he said the public should not have to pay for work to de-carbonise the National Grid, after it made £4.5 billion in profits in a single year.

In 2017, after Labour lost the Copeland by-election, he warned that the party’s woes at the time were not the fault of then-leader Jeremy Corbyn – and was proved right later in the year when Mr Corbyn destroyed the Tories’ then-huge poll lead in a general election campaign that he would have won if he had received another 2,200-odd votes in swing constituencies from which his right-wing party opponents had removed funding.

Earlier he had quit his role as shadow business secretary because he could not support a three-line whip from Mr Corbyn, demanding that Labour support the triggering of Article 50 and withdrawal from the European Union, in a principled move.

Those are just a few of the matters that come to mind when considering Mr Lewis’s career.

So I have no reservations about supporting the following:
