Keir Starmer has thrown in the towel; Diane Abbott CAN stand for re-election under Labour's banner

Labour’s ‘hierarchy of racism’ in action: Diane Abbott

The party may deny it but now we have a perfect example of Labour’s ‘hierarchy of racism’ in action: Diane Abbott.

Ms Abbott’s membership of the Parliamentary Labour Party was suspended because she said Jews, Irish people and Travellers don’t experience racism in the same way as black people – because their identities as ethnic minorities are more easily hidden than black skin.

She wasn’t saying they don’t suffer racism; just that the other groups can avoid abuse on occasions because their skin colour means they can blend in with what, for want of a better word, I’ll describe as the majority.

Labour suspended her anyway, on suspicion of having caused offence to all three named groups.

But there’s a huge contradiction in its subsequent treatment of her. To describe it, I’ll hand you over to Gary Hutton, who commented about it on Facebook:

It’s noticeable that the media has repeatedly stated Diane Abbott has attended an ‘antisemitism’ course, and that’s the reason for her having the labour whip restored.

So, it seems the issue for all in the media, the Labour Party and probably friends of Israel, is her reference to Jewish people.

Isn’t that actually saying Irish people and travellers are less important than Jewish people?

Isn’t that racism by these groups against Irish people and travellers?

Yes it is.

It puts anti-Semitism at the top of a hierarchy of racism, with racism against black people, Irish people and Travellers below it.

Keir Starmer should be challenged on this. But will he?
